Dal Palak / Palak Dal
A simple and healthy Dal cooked with spinach and rich with vitamins and fiber.Paired with rotis or rice.

Instructions
  1. Heat ghee in the pressure cooker. Add cumin seeds and asafoetida, green chili.
  2. As the cumin seeds starts to splutter, add the onions, garlic paste, ginger paste and turmeric paste or turmeric powder.
  3. Cook the onions till they turn translucent. Then add the salt and red chilli powder, coriander powder.
  4. Add the spinach and cook till tender.
  5. As the oil seperates, add the dal and 2 cups of water.
  6. Bring to boil and close the lid.
  7. Cook on high flame till one whistle.
  8. Then simmer the flame and cook for up-to two whistles on simmer.
  9. Shut down the flame and let the steam release.
  10. Open and check. First, whisk nicely with the ladel to mix. Then if the dal is thick then add a little boiled water and mix.
  11. Garnish with some coriander leaves and slit green chilies . Serve hot with roti or rice.

This recipe has been pressure cooked, but you can also make it in crockpot or pan on slow cook. Only the time taken will differ.
