How to make the perfect rosted cumin seeds powder/Bhuna Jeera powder at home

A simple recipe .Roasted Jeera powder /Bhuna Jeera is an aromatic roasted spice powder used for sprinkling over many snacks and salads in Indian Cuisine.

Although available in the market,the one made at home gives the best and long lasting aroma, taking the flavors of the dish to just another level.

Roasted Cumin Powder /Bhuna Jeera has many health benefits ,hence taking a very important place in the Indian cuisine.Besides being a very good digestive, it aids in better immunity, treats piles, respiratory disorders, asthma, bronchitis, common cold,  anemia and many more.

Its also very good for feeding mothers,as it helps in Lactation.

Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup cumin seed Bhuna Jeera

Instructions
  1. You'll need for this: An iron griddle or tawa. Roasting in a heavy bottom pan is better as otherwise while roasting the cumin seeds tend to popup,creating a mess around.
  2. Take the jeera/ cumin seeds on the warm griddle.Make sure the flame is on simmer. Keep stirring with a spoon while roasting.
  3. Roast the jeera/ cumin seeds till they evenly turn brown.
  4. Transfer to another plate or bowl till completely cooled doen.
  5. Now, crush the jeera/ cumin seeds in a mortor-pestle till its powdered roughly.Store in an air tight container .
  6. You can store this powder for a very long time without any change in the texture.
