North India celebrates Navratri Fasting for 9 days followed by completion on ashtami or navmi with Kanjak pooja when we prepare Prasad Halwas and poori chana and celebrate the completion of fasting.During these 9 days only fruit based diet is taken and also the regular salt is prohibited and only sendha namak /rock salt intake is allowed.

Although one may witness slight difference in rituals and beliefs as regards to food. But these recipes follow a fruit based diet which is the main rule observed.

This year the Navratri Fasting begins on 21st September till 29th september 2017

A few places  and communities, you may find Turmeric not allowed, you may then avoid and omit the use of turmeric and make the rest of the recipe as per instructions given.
