Yes you heard it right, this is a vegan recipe. Made with very few ingredients. I have used the left-over dal i had prepared for Chana dal paranthas/ flatbreads. You may otherwise boil some fresh dal/lentil in pressure cooker. In case you dont use a pressure cooker, then you may also boil the dal a little ahead to save time.
How to Make these Delicious Potato and Lentil Croquettes:
The main ingredients used in this recipe are: Potatoes, lentil, bread slices and spices and condiments.
- Grind the bread and lentil together.
- Mash the boiled potatoes.
- Mix all the spices, ginger garlic paste, peanuts powder, and bread mixture together. Some herbs to go along for flavor.
- Make croquettes shape of your choice and fry them in hot oil till golden brown.
And you have these wonderful, delicious, little potato bombs ready! Serve them with your preferred dip.

- 2 big Boiled potatoes
- 2 slices wheat bread
- 1 tsp Ginger garlic paste
- 1/2 cup chana dal/ split gram lentil Boiled, spiced with salt, red chili powder, coriander powder
- 3-4 tbsp coriander leaves
- 1/2 tsp carom seeds / Ajwain you may add carom leaves if you have too.
- 1 tsp salt or as per taste
- 1 tsp red chili powder/degi mirch or as per taste
- 1 tsp chaat masala
- 1/2 onionchopped
- 3 tbsp cilantro / green coriander leaves
- 1 tbsp Peanuts
- 2 tbsp all purpose flour
- In a Grinding jar, grind the bread slices, peanuts, and chana dal (seasoned) to powder. Add to a mixing bowl.
- Mash/ grate the potatoes and add to the mixing bowl.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste, salt, chili powder, chaat masala, garam masala(optional), coriander leaves, ajwain(carom seeds), onion, all-purpose flour. Mix and bring the mixture together that it binds together.
- Make small or medium-sized croquettes with the above mixture. Keep aside.
- Heat oil in a wok/kadhai. Fry the croquettes on high flame till nicely golden brown in colour.
- Serve hot with tomato ketchup / Green Coriander Chutney / any Dip of your choice.
1. If your potatoes are boiled right, i.e they don't have extra moisture, then the above recipe will come out perfect. But in case you have over boiled your potatoes, then you may have to increase the all-purpose flour and bread to your batter to make it the right consistency.
